elcome fellow Earthlets! This is the DESTRON 2000 AD page where I, George the Mighty (NO relation to Tharg!!!) will endevour to portray what is good about the world's best running SCI FI magazine and why.So ..what IS 2000 AD? Well, to the uneducated eye it's just another sci fi publication, with a number of running stories in each issue and several incarnations of the House Of Tharg, including 2000 AD, Classic 2000 AD, The Judge Dredd Megazine, classic Judge Dredd, 2000 AD Graphic Novels and specials, A to Z's, and various smaller comics by other companies such as DC which have rights to the characters.
JUDGE DREDD is without a doubt the most well known 2000 AD success story to date. But in his fearsome shadow are many other well known and just as respected characters waiting their chances at true fame, the likes of Venus Blue Genes and Rouge Trooper, Durham Red, Slaine, Vector 13, Sinister Dexter, Anderson, the Dark Judges, to name but a few. Of the recent new comers, Nickolia Dante is excellent, a true ego at last! There have also been many other showings on 2000 AD over time, and recent ones that spring to mind are:
Flesh, Cannon Fodder, Al's Baby, R.A.M Raiders, Janus:PSI.
Along with Judge Dredd comes the HARDLY archetype arch villans, in the forms of the aforementioned Dark Judges (Death, Fire, Mortis and Fear plus the sisters Phobia and Nausea), the infamous Angel Gang, Pa, Junior, Link and co oh - not forgetting MEAN Machine Angel. Also the scourge of the 'Dark Side' that is Rico, his genetic brother and also the Judda and Dredd's past confusions there with another judge who could be him??? Read the story to find out (smirk).
Although this information is late in reaching me, I will post a plug here at some stage for the Fear The Badge charity Fanzine based on the style and characters of 2000 AD, so if anyone is interested in comic writing, plotting, drawing etc, or just would like more information then please watch this space! It's going to be a big publication and half the proceeds will go to a charity for the blind. So .if you want a big break, keep your browser favourites pointed this way and I hope all goes well to all those on the team so far up there in bonnie Scotland!
